Wow it's been a busy few months for me. Maybe I can slow down in a few weeks. I can't wait to celebrate the holidays with family.
I have a son (John) who is a new graduate from NASCAR Institute that is home for good. Glad of that since he graduated with honors and perfect attendance. Here is his picture. Can we say very proud Mom here...lol
Since this week will be busy I hope everyone has a very HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!

Just where has the summer gone?
It just seems like yesterday it was warming up. We have been busy here with canning and just the odd jobs that come with summertime. I did enter some of the Raspberry Jam and a quilt I designed into the Meigs County Fair. I got a second place red ribbon on the Jam. Hey look I got first place blue ribbon on the quilt. Some pictures below of what I've been up to.
Now Fall is here....I love Fall and can't wait till leaves start falling and cooler temps come along. It just seems that when Fall gets here so does the overtime at work just when I need to get things done.
My next things to get going on in my free time is quilted Christmas gifts and decorations for the home. We have old milk cans to paint as well as finish the porch. Yes, I'll post a picture of the cans when they are done....care to guess the theme? I'm from TN you know....GO VOLS!!
So till the next time...Have fun working on projects whether it be painting or quilting!

Summer sewing with the girls...
Well a lot has gone on this summer between the canning and endless normal stuff I FINALLY got some sewing time. It's off to Knoxville with the girls from guild to have a sewing mini retreat so to speak. We went to Connie's office complex and sewed all day long and had a GREAT time. I got to finish the Summer Memories mug rugs for Debra. She's a new quilting friend from Oklahoma I met this summer while doing the mug rug swap on QuiltGallery.com. Here are some pictures of our fun day out....first of many to come.
During the production of mug rugs...

Connie working on a Cancer ribbon quilt...
Finished mug rugs that I designed myself...Yeah!

I feel like a yo-yo...lol
You know you're in East TN when one day the weather is sunny and 70 degrees and the next day you have ice on the road.....lol I hope Spring comes soon and stays. Got to get my Spring cleaning started and I guess it will start in the sewing room for me this year. I need to get organized and back to work on my UFO's as well.
I'm pretty excited about this month. Bonnie Hunter of Quiltville is coming to teach classes for Ritzy Thimble quilt guild in Oliver Springs at my old high school. I'm hoping she has just as much fun as we all do when we attend her classes. She is a blast as a teacher and I've learned bunches from her and the short cuts and techniques.
Well let's get to work.....so long for now and happy sewing!!!

My yo yo weather...lol
Well I haven't been on here in a while and for good reason. The DH and I went on our first cruise. It was GREAT to say the least. We went on a short 3 day to the Bahamas just to see if we liked it and no sickness involved...yeah! I will post pictures soon. So we went from having beautiful 80 degree beaches with clear skies to come back home and be greeted with snow and 30 degrees. I want to go back...:(
Needless to say I haven't been quilting in a while and it's time to get back to it full force. I have a list of UFO's to work on this year and hopefully I can get them done. So until next time stay warm and enjoy whatever you are working on.

Loving this warmer weather....for right now
Well I'm off to a good start this year with the getting organized. Now if I could only get to the sewing room. I started collecting letter sized paper from people where the copies are bad and junk papers for making paper piecing strip sets for sashing and what not. The papers are then cut down to 2 1/2 X 8 1/2 strips. So far I have a half tub of these (which is about 2,000 give or take a hundred). This will allow me to use up the scraps of the odd shaped and small nature. You can use these for shashing or connect them for borders. I think that would be good for baby quilts and the like. Next step is to get to the machine to start them. Pictures of thesse are to come so you can see what I'm talking about. For more information on this refer to Quiltville.com and watch some of Bonnie Hunter's Quilt cam video.
Stay warm and see you soon!!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR !!!!
Sorry it has been so long since my last post. One of my resolutions is to become more focused on my hobbies this year. I've worked so much overtime this year my hobbies have suffered tremendously. Between work and helping the DH around the house there just isn't enough hours in the day. My first goal this year is to get organized.
One more resolution is to loose weight. Off to a good start as we begin and hope to continue this year as I have a goal in mind this time. I hope you have a safe and healthy new year.
